Announced in Japan in 1975, the TL250 was the first competitive four stroke trials machine of the two stroke era.
The 248cc single overhead cam engine put out 16.5bhp at 7000 rpm and more importantly 2.0Nm at 5500rpm. Commendable, for a four stroke, 99kg, while it was not up to beating the best ridden Bultaco’s and Montesa’s the TL25 was completely able to keep up with two stroke trials machines from Yamaha and Suzuki.
Eagerly sought as a classic.
1975 HONDA MT250
First launched in late 1973, the MT250 trail bike was based on the CR Moto-cross machinery of the same name. Early models, the KO type, had a chrome plated heat shield on the Hi-line exhaust system. All model years had silver fuel tanks, with Daytona orange, Tahitian red and Aquarius blue/black fuel tank top stripes. The five speed piston port two strokes all had oil injection, and were as good as anything at that time the opposition could produce.
